MSU IT has several workshops in January designed to help you and your students get the semester off to a great start. If you need assistance, or have a suggestion about a workshop you'd like to see in the future, please contact MSU IT.

Instructor Semester Kick-off 

The goal of this workshop is to provide an overview of important considerations and approaches for getting your course setup for online teaching. Topics covered will include: 

  • Online teaching overview 
  • Approaches to structuring and organizing course materials  
  • Designing assignments and assessments 
  • Promoting student engagement and building community in a virtual setting 
  • Tools and strategies for improving accessibility  
  • Evaluating your online course

Instructor D2L Basics 

This workshop will cover the basics of D2L. This includes an overview of the interface, how to create and manage the grade book, creating discussion forums, assignments and quizzes and uploading and creating your course content. We will also touch on the new Spartan A11y tool.

Packback is an AI-supported online discussion forum designed to motivate students to explore and investigate the assigned topic, encouraging genuine curiosity and engagement. Join us to learn how students receive live AI-based coaching on their writing while saving instructors time with moderation and grading.

D2L Basics for MSU Students 

D2L is one of the main technologies used at MSU to deliver online and remote classes. Come learn the basics of how to use D2L as a student and what you need to do in order to make sure you are prepared for the semester.  IT Staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
