A few links that have to do with community building and student experience in our program. We also use Teams and SharePoint a lot. ;) Sharing because I'm hoping others will reciprocate!

Graduation and Commencement page: https://maflt.cal.msu.edu/commencement/
Alumni page recently updated to tell alumni how to connect with us and to link to their portfolios better: https://maflt.cal.msu.edu/alumni/
Events page, with a link to the post about our biweekly (fortnightly?) virtual Midweek Meetups, which are open and outward-facing now rather than students only. The rest of the page is out of date: https://maflt.cal.msu.edu/maflt-events.

Virtual Community and Collaboration | 2-minute poll: https://forms.office.com/r/ZgQwUg3gSH

How are you using technology to build and sustain virtual communities, at MSU and beyond MSU?

I'm asking because I have really struggled to answer this for my own grad students and colleagues, I'm frustrated with insufficient answers from MSU IT, and I don't have time to experiment with every tool out there! This question is about connecting and collaborating beyond the level of an individual class. Do you just rely on email and maybe a shared folder somewhere? Do you use Teams with colleagues? Do you have a Team or other online group for all the students in your program? How do you connect with alumni? Do you have social media channels, groups, etc.? Do you use a platform to collaborate with colleagues at other institutions?

The poll has 3 brief questions. Results will appear as word clouds for now but may be re-built into a poll with multi-select items or upvoting-downvoting functions.

I'm Brittany Dillman and today I will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Teaching Online: Pedagogy, Assessment & Instructor Presence.

I have my PhD in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology from MSU and currently work with the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program in the College of Education. I am currently teaching a learning theories course and a technology teaching across the curriculum course, so I pretty much live, eat, and breath pedagogy, assessment, and instructor presence in online learning spaces.

Please share your questions, comments, concerns, or ideas by commenting on this post and I'll share what I know (or ask the best questions I can come up with). Let's have a conversation about teaching online!

SARAH - Thanks for joining AMAs this morning! I have a couple of questions. 1) What is included in "co-curricular" activities? Is this any and all things a learned participates in that is outside of class? Maybe you could share some examples? 2) How can I as an MSU educator be more intentional about encouraging/valuing co-curricular experiences for learners?

Good morning! I'm today's AMA Host on Making/Using Videos. I believe adding videos to any course (online or face-to-face) can provide students with a number of benefits. Videos can often provide deeper connections to course content, inspire and engage students, and put more autonomy into the hands of learners. The key becomes making videos effective, efficient, and adaptable. I have lots of tips that I've learned from so many experts on campus. Looking forward to your questions, your own suggestions, and any advice we can all use.

Hello! I am Anne Baker and today I will be hosting an AMA on designing elearning modules. I currently work for MSU Extension as an learning and talent devleopment specialist, and because we have 600+ MSU employees dispersed across the state of Michigan, I spend a lot of time designing and delivering elearning modules. Before my current position, I worked as an instructional designer in private industry. I also have worked a lot with language teaching and the use of technology to support language learners. My favorite authoring tool is Articulate Storyline, but good elearning modules can be created in many ways. Let's have a conversation about elearning modules!
