I had the good fortune to attend an enlightening workshop today: "Student-Centered Approach to Grading" presented by Jeremy Van Hof and Monica Mills. Among the resources they provided was this treasure trove: https://www.gettoby.com/p/jp9xrk523nt1

Benjamin Franklin is attributed with saying, 'Nothing is certain except death and taxes'. A 21st century version of this quote for instructors could and should include the gradebook. In an attempt to demystify the process of setting up your gradebook in D2L MSU IT has created this very useful resource. This is one of those resources you should print off an keep close by for the start of each semester. Remember that help is always close by with consultations, walk-through videos, and the MSU D2L Help documentation - https://help.d2l.msu.edu/

I first learned about ungrading from my the APA's Society for Teaching of Psychology facebook group, and they had so many conversations around this that they started a slack channel. I haven't kept up with it but they use specs grading, which is perhaps a better fit for larger courses. I tried a version of this during remote learning in 2020. Here's the slack channel if you're interested in joining those conversations: https://join.slack.com/t/specsgradingi-pm17499/shared_invite/zt-1wqybjovp-RXBIkLwF0vxmERppKBMGWw

Alternative Grading Conference
It's virtual and inexpensive. I found last year's meeting helpful and insightful.
