Wonderful writeup about the Pig Project, a Spartan Studios course I got to facilitate last fall. This experiential, interdisciplinary course involved students taking responsibility for and raising piglets at the MSU Student Organic Farm. Author Greg Teachout interviewed me and the primary instructors Laurie Thorp and Dale Rozeboom (from the overall 5-member teaching team) and really got to the heart of this course. https://undergrad.msu.edu/news/view/id/432

Hello, current and future users of Microsoft's Power Automate. I made this group so we can share learn more and share our knowledge and skills. I made my first flow about five years ago. It was very simple and I still needed help, despite the fact that Microsoft bills PA as a 'Low-code, No-Code' solution. Only recently have I begun using PA more earnestly. I still need help.

A very interesting recent book on how to make our coursework with students more inclusive. A concise 200 pages on, not only the theoretical background and need for inclusivity, but loads of very practical advice for designing courses and running class meetings with inclusivity in mind. $30 well spent. Check out 'What Inclusive Instructors Do: Principles and Practices for Excellence in College Teaching' (Stylus Publishing, 2021) on Amazon:

Another interesting piece on Faculty Focus this morning that provides additional tips for [motivating] and engaging our students in class. I hope to try a few of these next fall when I return to the (hybrid) classroom. Hope you might find these tips useful in your own journey to motivate and engage undergrads.
Kind Regards,
Stokes

Domains vs MSU Commons - Options for Developing a Professional Website
MSU faculty, staff, and students have the opportunity to create professional websites, as they develop their digital presence, as they create digital pedagogy and online learning materials, and in the organization of projects and professional activities. This simple graphic explains when MSU Domains (http://msu.domains) is the suitable place for this work, and when MSU Commons (https://commons.msu.edu) is the suitable place for this work.

Here is a downloadable file of the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation (CTLI) mid-semester feedback survey sample questions. You can also access the Google Doc here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bvWBucqNfRfc938QekLlealPf4XbIbBCg1Bz5UgwUjY/edit?usp=sharing
Please note that there are colleges and units across MSU's campus that are already offering support to their instructors in collecting formative feedback. This effort is to complement these services and make them accessible to the broader MSU instructor community. Feel free to use these questions verbatim, or tailor to best suit your course(s).

Walden University has shared...
"There are many different scenarios for classroom conflicts, and not all can be resolved in the same manner; however, there are five key conflict resolution strategies that should be understood. Often a topic among teachers in online master’s degree programs, these strategies, when implemented appropriately, can help create a classroom that is more conducive to learning. They also help teach students valuable lessons for conflict resolution that can last a lifetime."
